DGS summer school: OBESSU as ‘Organising Bureau of European School Student Unicorns’
This summer member organisation Danske Gymnasieelevers Sammenslutning (DGS) organised their summer school and OBESSU was also present!
The summer school was held in Store Heddinge (Denmark) and around 30 board members and members of the DGS‘s secretariat participated. Thanks to invitation from Malene Nyborg (chairperson of DGS) OBESSU was asked to hold a workshop, facilitated by OBESSU Board member Daša Koribaničová.
The whole workshop was education oriented as they learned the differences between formal, non formal, informal and peer education and used all of them not just in theory but also in practice. Nevertheless, alternative forms of learning were mentioned and presented as well. Student activists had a chance to participate in OBESSU quiz and we found that OBESSU could also be called “Organising Bureau of European School Student Unicorns“. Most of the participants had only heard the abbreviation ‘OBESSU’ and not the whole name. Therefore, it was interesting to have them guess and struggle with the real name… but who knows, maybe one day we will represent unicorns as well :)
“The workshop was a great experience for both sides and for me as a board member it was a pleasure to be able to attend summer school of our member organisation and I hope that this kind of working together apart from OBESSU’s events will happen more often!”
