Key Data on Education in Europe 2012
The Eurydice Network launched Key Data on Education in Europe 2012. The report contains 95 indicators that provide a comprehensive picture of the organisation, management and functioning of 37 education systems in Europe. It also traces the main developments in education over the last decade.
Key Data on Education in Europe 2012 is a joint publication with Eurostat and based on data collected through the National Units of the Eurydice Network, Eurostat, and the PISA 2009 international survey. You can consult the highlights of the study here. The report reveals many positive developments, including: longer participation in education, an increased support for new teachers, a rise in the number of tertiary education graduates as well as a stable share of the GDP devoted to education up until 2008. On the other hand, important challenges for education in Europe were identified. In the years to come, they will be teacher shortages and a growing number of tertiary graduates who appear overqualified for their posts.
