Where? Bern, Switzerland Dates 8ESSC: 08/12/2012 - 14/12/2012 The 8^th European School Student Convention “Education at 360º” will focus on the evaluation and quality assurance of education and in particular of school students. The event will take place in Bern, Switzerland, from 8-14 December 2012 and will gather around 50 participants from more than 20 countries in Europe. Before the Convention, the Council of Members (COMEM) will take place on 9^th of December. This is an annual meeting gathering representatives from OBESSU’s member organisations between General Assemblies. OBESSU believes that education and its assessment should be learner-centred: school students must always be engaged in the assessment and shaping of not only the design of school systems, but also the contents of education and training. The 8^th European School Student Convention (8^thESSC) will explore questions such as What is the necessity of the evaluation of school students? What is evaluated? How are school students evaluated and what methods of evaluation are used? Who evaluates? At the 8^thESSC participants will meet to discuss about traditional and alternative evaluation methodologies, learning outcomes and school students’ performance and participation. Guest speakers have been invited to feed into the debate. The convention will consist of both plenary sessions and working groups and will rely on non-formal education methods in order to enhance active participation and foster the sense of ownership of the achieved results.

COSTS: OBESSU covers the costs for maximum 2 participants attending both the COMEM and the Convention, and in exceptional cases we cover costs of 1 delegate attending only the COMEM. When your application is confirmed you will receive the reference price for flights, which is the maximum that will be reimbursed. We urge you to book your tickets well in advance to get a good price. Travel costs will be reimbursed after the Convention.

There is a participation fee of €50.
