“Share your Skills”
From the 31st July to the 7th August 2012 OBESSU held its 3rd Summer School entitled “Share your Skills” in Spain. 50 participants joined the 3rd OBESSU Summer School, from 21 of OBESSU’s Member and Observer organisations as well as 2 participants from SV-Bildungswerk, a German organisation which works with school student unions.
This year’s Summer School was based on the fact that OBESSU’s Member and Observer organisations have a very diverse, deep and remarkable expertise developed through their work, passion, activism and creativity. We had therefore launched a call for workshops before the event where participants could propose workshops to hold during the Summer School. We ended up with 21 different workshops on topics such as: Facilitation skills, Diplomatic relations, Team work, the use of social media, forum theatre and body language, intercultural competences, Sexual health and STIs, Gender Equality as well as leisure workshops ranging from trust games, water games, cooperation games to the great OBESSUlympics!!!
The schedule was intense, but since there were always three workshops running parallel to each other participants could tailor the programme to meet their personal and organisational needs best. In order to cope with the Spanish summer heat and also have the chance to get to talk and get to know one another there were also many informal activities such as pool time, the intercultural evening, the Spanish fiesta and the Intercultural evening!
The 3rd OBESSU Summer School: “Share your Skills” was incredibly successful, and everybody brought something home for both their personal as well as organisational development! It was truly a place where one could network and learn from one’s peers in the rest of Europe!
The event took place at the Centro Eurolatinoamericano de Juventud in Mollina and was organised in cooperation with CANAE. It was organised with the financial support of the “Youth in Action” Programme of the European Commission.
