Last week, Larissa and Pina represented OBESSU at the Annual Conference of the Lifelong Learning Platform, held in Vienna on the 5th and 6th July. The topic of this year’s conference was “Lifelong Learning Culture: a partnership for rethinking education”.

During the conference, we had the opportunity to hear from many policy makers and institutions, including representatives from the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU, the Directorate General on Education and Culture of the EU Commission, the OeAD, as well as we heard many inspiring keynotes from people from all sectors and different countries of the world.

Representing the voice of School Students in Europe, OBESSU had the opportunity to contribute to both the plenary and fishbowl discussions, as well as in the smaller group. In particular, we brought in the perspective of active citizenship and true participation of school students in the democratic processes as one of the fundamental pillars of Lifelong Learning.

After the Annual Conference, on the 6th July, the Lifelong Learning Platform also hosted their Annual General Assembly. During the GA we had a chance to hear the Moral report, as well as the Activity report and the Financial Report of the organisation, as well as we discussed the workplan and the membership. We also voted on new Membership applications and therefore welcomed D-Learn and the UNIMED Network to the platform.

This was also the time of the year when we elect new Steering Committee members: this year we thank and say goodbye to 3 Steering Committee Members who have given a lot to the platform: David Lopez – former president, Eszter Salamon and Mare Oja. The GA elected in the Steering Committee Laurentiu Bunescu from AllDigital, Lucia Susova from SOLIDAR, Tamara Gojkovic from YEU and Valentina Pomatto from EEE-YFU. We want to congratulate the elected Steering Committee members and wish them all the best in their upcoming mandate.
