Our Board member, Sara Þöll, was in Paris from the 10th-11th of December for OECD’s 6th Expert Meeting on School Resources.
Representatives of OECD (The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), other partner countries, social partners and international organisations were there to discuss and learn about issues related to the use of school resources.
The meeting mainly focused on human resources in education (teachers, school leaders, etc) and the first draft of the thematic report on the topic.
Additionally, we discussed the impact of previously published work, of OECD, on school funding and educational infrastructure and finally teachers absenteeism and substitute teachers. This meeting is part of the 4 main areas that OECD is reviewing related to school resources: financial resources, human resources, physical resources; and other resources (such as time).
One of OBESSU’s main focus topics next year will be Quality of Education and in particular the quality of teachers. It was a very informative meeting for us, we exchanged with partners and gathered ideas that will benefit our work next year.
What is next?
It is very important that the voices of students are heard loud and clear. We will be reviewing the drafted thematic report and giving our feedback from the School Student’s perspective. If you want to learn more about the review process, click here!
We are very thankful for the opportunity to exchange on matters that are very close to OBESSU and are looking forward to our cooperation with OECD in the future.
